Islamic unity must be made visible to West

TEHRAN, Jun. 22 (MNA) – Iran’s FM Zarif has emphasized that the unity of the Islamic world needs to be demonstrated to Western countries.

Mohammad Javad Zarif attended a fast-breaking (Iftar) banquet in the residence of Iran’s ambassador to Paris where some French officials and representatives from 33 Islamic states were present.

The Iranian official pointed out the importance of Islamic unity adding “in the Muslim world, we need to show extremism and terrorism, which have affected Islam, can be confronted.”

“Instead of highlighting the differences, we need to focus on our common challenges in the name of Islam and for the development of Muslim countries and the Muslim community,” he continued.

Iran’s foreign minister further emphasized the need to think globally about methods of finding new followers of Islam; “currently, the main injustice pertains to the one against Palestinians and we need to minimize differences by guarding against attacks and violence.”

He emphasized the need for collaboration over the issue adding “being a unique religion, Islam is not restricted to one region as it proposes that the killing of a human being equals the killing of mankind.”

“We belong to a religion that considers the world as a united whole,” stressed Zarid asserting “it would not prove difficult for Muslims to introduce Islam as a universal religion.”

“We will be losers if we fail to stay together,” underlined the official urging all Muslims to collaborate in order to provide a bright future for the next generations.”
